I have always been looking for the best redhead costumes since I am a redhead. I have been Princess Fiona, Raggedy Ann, Ginger Spice, Poison Ivy, Dorothy, and Pebbles in the past. This past year I wanted to buy a Ms.Frizzle costume but there weren't any available. I knew I wanted fun jewelry and shoes to make it as cartoonish as possible.

At first I wanted a full dress (not full length because I was going out in college town so it needed to be easy to run around in). I then found that I do not have any sewing or pinning abilities what-so-ever. I bought a lot of solar system fabric that I wanted to be the entire dress. I then first tried to make the skirt. I took tape and put it sticky side up on my floor (about 4 1/2 feet) I then took the fabric and design side down i put it on the tape scrunching every 2 inches to make it have pleats like a cheer-leading skirt would have. I then took tape and sticky side down taped over the other piece of tape to hold the top of the skirt together. Then I cut the skirt a length I wanted and pinned the fabric in certain areas to make sure it would stay in place. To make the skirt puff out I bought 2 children's ballerina dresses from Walmart for $5 each to wear under the skirt I made.

To make my shirt I bought iron on pieces to stick fabric together. I then cut out certain planets from the fabric I made my skirt with and used the iron on pieces to stick those randomly on a black t-shirt. (I also got iron on letters and quoted the Magic School Bus song on the back)

I then bought a pack of bubble planet stickers and put them on my shoes. The extra ones I had i stuck to old earrings so I can have Saturn earrings.

For my belt I used an old belt from 6th grade that had sparkles on it and I pasted a picture of the magic school bus on it.

Lastly I printed out a picture of Liz the lizard and taped it to my purse. Then I crimped my hair and went out for Halloween!

The costume was a huge success. Everyone on campus loved it because they all watched the show. People would start quoting it explaining "seat belts everyone!" and were talking about their favorite episodes. The text on the back definitely helped people know who I was just from behind. I am thinking of wearing the costume again this year because of the work I put into it, and the positive feedback from everyone.

My two friends who were dating, decided on a Cosmo and Wanda Couple Costume from Fairly Odd Parents.

It was not only a very cute, fun idea, but also a very inexpensive one. All they did was buy pink and green spray on hair dye, and a package of wings with wands included. They took yellow construction paper and made stars for the wands and crowns for their heads.

Overall, it was a huge hit!

I love Halloween and love dressing up, so being pregnant in October just added to the fun. My 1-year-old was going trick-or-treating as a skeleton, and I thought it would be cool if I made a Pregnant Skeleton Costume (along with his future baby brother), too!

This costume was super easy to make, though time consuming. The base is simply an oversized black shirt and black pants. The bones are all cut out of white craft foam (very inexpensive at Walmart) and sewn on individually (that was the time consuming part).

For the baby skeleton, I still used the white craft foam, but the pieces were too small to sew on individually (or I'm too lazy, whatever), so I bought one sheet of black craft foam and glued the baby skeleton pieces to that, which worked GREAT! I cut the black foam around the baby maybe 1/2 inch out and then sewed the whole thing in to place. Just a note: I thought the idea of a baby skeleton was just a little creepy, so I made sure to have the baby skeleton smiling... much better!

I have gotten TONS of great compliments on this costume and even recently loaned it to my newly pregnant friend as a way of informing people of her pregnancy! Enjoy!

For this homemade trash costume I went in a more conceptual direction - literal trash, but also trashy trash, i.e. fishnets and smeared lipstick. Our friends went through a period of lovingly calling each other traaaaash! (yeah it's kind of trashy) so I wanted to embody this with a homemade trash costume.

I started by making my dress from one big garbage bag. I first cut the neck hole and created shoulder straps by cinching them with purple gaffer's tape and securing them to the body of the dress with the same tape. Then I made newspaper bows and tied them onto the straps. I cinched the costume in back to give it a more flattering dress-like shape with tape and covered that up with a big bow made from a blue plastic shopping bag.

For the finishing touches I put another bow in my hair made from a plastic shopping bag and wrapped aluminum foil around my waist for a belt. Easy!

To top it off, I made an earring from a bottle cap and a safety pin, and a necklace of grocery bag chains with the top of a beer can as the medallion. I wore torn fishnets over black capri stockings, purple gloves, and for that extra trashy touch smeared some lipstick on with super thick dark eyeliner. I also made sure to act really trashy all night (as you can see by the silly poses in the pics).

All in all, it was the easiest purely homemade costume I've ever made, and for a last minute plan B, it was a smash!

Coolest Homemade Sexy Buzz Lightyear Costume 6

by Saskia
(Montana)

Homemade Sexy Buzz Lightyear Costume

A sexy take on a classic character! I made my very own Buzz Lightyear costume complete with hand painted corset top and retractable wings. That's right, my wings actually work! I rewired some kids toy wings into my corset; hit the button on the front of the corset and the wings go in and out complete with lights and sound. I also added a laser pointer into my glove to act as my "ray gun" just like Buzz Lightyear would have.

The top began with a white store bought corset that I painted with soft fabric paint. This is different from "puff" fabric paint and actually allowed me to mix colors creating shadows and highlights to make it look more realistic. I finished off the costume with a pair of shorts, white fishnets and white heels.

The entire costume probably cost me around $80 when completed (not including the shoes) but has been more than worth it given the response. Definitely my favorite costume ever. To infinity and beyond!

My two sons are currently obsessed with the movie Monster's Inc so my mom and I decided to make them Sulley and Mike Wazowski costumes. For both costumes we used fleece fabric. We matched the colors as close as we could but Sulley's purple spots were hard to find. We ended up using fabric paint and different sized circle stencils to make the spots.

We simply sponge painted them on and let it dry before we cut the fabric. Neither of us are super experienced so we used patterns to guide us in the overall construction of the outfits. For Sulley we used a dragon costume pattern and Mike we used a pumpkin pattern. We altered each one to get them to look like the characters. We used felt for most of the facial features. We also found a plastic hard hat at the local party store and spray painted it blue.
Then we constructed the Monster?s Inc symbol out of felt and hot glued it to the hat. For Mike, I was really lucky to be able to find a shirt and a pair of pants close in color to wear under the costume. They were from the girls department but he will never know.

My sons we super excited to dress up as their favorite characters. I love to call them my little monsters so this Monster's Inc Couple Costume suited them well. Happy Halloween!!
